Since 1975, El Mirasol Villas has been the resort of choice in Palm Springs for Gay Men.    

Originally built by Howard Hughes in the late 40's.

A bit of El Mirasol Villas History

El Mirasol, translated means to look at the sun or loosely translated as sunflower or FLOWER IN THE SUN.

El Mirasol Villas was built in 1947 by Howard Hughes.

It is said that he built the original 6 building compound to woo Elizabeth Taylor to the fabulous California desert.

Whether Howard was successful or not we do not know...what we do know is that it has been the flower in the sun for many since then... Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe as well as many other of Howard's Girls.

The compound was turned into a hotel in the early 1950s and was owned by Bob Hope in the early 1960s.

It was reopened in 1975, as the first Gay Hotel in Palm Springs; the north side was annexed in the early 1980s and became the property as we now know it.

We bought the Hotel in October of 2000, and we are committed to continuing the tradition of El Mirasol Villas as the
FLOWER IN THE SUN!
